26-year-old woman, Rukayat Shittu wins Kwara House of Assembly seat

26-year-old Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, has been declared the winner of Owode Onire state constituency of Asa Native Authorities Space in Kwara State Home of Meeting election.

 

Ms Shittu polled 7,521 to defeat her rival within the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP), who scored 6,957 throughout Saturday’s election.

This makes her one of many youngest candidates in Nigeria to contest and win a political seat. 

 

Shittu is a journalist and a former Senate President of the Congress of NOUN College students (CONS) on the Nationwide Open College of Nigeria (NOUN)

She attended Baptist Main Faculty LGEA in Ilorin, and Authorities Ladies Day Secondary Faculty, Oko Erin, the place she obtained her Senior Secondary Faculty Certificates in 2011. 

 

She proceeded to Kwara State School of Arabic and Islamic Authorized Research affiliated with Bayero College Kano the place she obtained a diploma certificates in Mass Communication and Islamic Research in 2015.

 

After her diploma, she enrolled in a trend college. In 2017, she was admitted to the Nationwide Open College of Nigeria and graduated in 2022.

In an interview with the Premium Occasions, after she gained the nomination as APC candidate, Shittu mentioned her dad and mom are totally in assist of her political profession.
