The Nigerian army have deployed troops at entry and exit factors in Anambra State, notably in and round Onitsha.
The troopers are looking out automobiles and brushing places after unknown gunmen kidnapped an operative of the Nigerian Navy.
Lieutenant IS Ozuowa was kidnapped at about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday alongside civilians, whose quantity is but to be ascertained.
At present serving at Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) OLOGBO, he was on transit from Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
The officer was launched on final Friday to attend his Lengthy Course programme.
A army personnel confirmed Ozuowa and others had been ambushed on the Higher Iweka space in Onitsha.
“Personal Fast Response Pressure (QRF) was deployed instantly. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the officer”, the supply instructed PRNigeria.
At incident time, Ozuowa despatched a misery message to Slt Bomadi, the Base Operations Officer of Naval Outpost (NOP) Onitsha.
The superior then alerted army troops stationed at checkpoints alongside totally different routes to be on the look out.
