Nigerian govt approves ​new trade union, Online Transport Workers

The Nigerian authorities has introduced a letter of approval to the Amalgamated Union of App-Primarily based Transport Employees of Nigeria (AUATWON).

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige made the presentation on Tuesday in Abuja.

The brand new union contains all app-based transport employees, on-line transport companies, and e-hailing drivers and operators.

Ngige famous that the registration was a milestone in labour administration, notably within the commerce union companies phase.

The minister mentioned the casual sector, which constitutes the biggest inhabitants of employees, is being formalised the world over.

“At present, we’re breaking new floor with those that are using themselves and from there, using others”, he mentioned.

AUTWON utilized for registration on April 27, 2021 to cater for self-employed individuals within the area of IT-based transportation companies.
