#OccupyLekkiTollGate: Buhari’s aide hails Lagos police The social media aide to the President Major General Mohammadu Bihari (retd), Lauretta Onochie has commended the activities of the Lagos State Police at the Lekki Toll Gate on Saturday.
Recall that security operative of the Lagos State Government took over the toll gate in large numbers to prevent a peaceful protest against the reopening of the Lekki Toll Gate.
At least 40 #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters who were out to call for justice for the victims of the October 20 incident that allegedly claimed the lives of 12 protesters were arrested by the police.
Nigerian comedian, Debo Adebayo fondly called Mr. Macaroni was also amongst the protesters that were arrested, beating, and humiliated by the police who also threatened to kill them, according to the comedian after their release.
However, Onochie hailed the police for a job well done because no one was hurt and according to her, the most important part was that the police officers did not lose their lives.
Her tweet read: “Kudos to the @PoliceNG for the professional manner it operated at Lekki yesterday. NOBODY WAS HURT
Best of all, no Police officer was killed nor roasted and eaten. We must applaud you for doing well so that you can take our criticisms of your shortcomings in good faith. THANK YOU.”
Recall that citizens and police officers reportedly died in October 2020 after thugs hijacked the peaceful #EndSARS protests.
Nigeria witnessed the destruction of public and private properties, including several police stations that were burnt to the ground.
